Thursday, October 30th Jake Mai 8 pm $5 Suggested Donation

Jake Mai 8 pm Featuring the raw, visceral songwriting talent of Jake Mai, he and his band got a head start by catching the attention of Warner Brothers A&R/Multi-Platinum Producer John Feldmann (Neon Trees, The Cab, Good Charlotte, The Used). Upon hearing a handful of songs posted online, Feldmann promptly invited Mai to his studio in Los Angeles. It was here that the band channeled every ounce of energy into their spirited, melodic, full-length album entitled “Olivine”

In the Studio, Mai showcases spiritous songwriting, fresh new hooks, and an undeniable earthy charisma. Live, he and his band thrive on thundering high energy rock sets that are complemented by their ability to deliver a breathtaking, intimate acoustic performance.

Over the summer, Mai provided original music for a Feature Length Documentary entitled “Chasing the Bull” is now recording one of two EP's scheduled for release this summer/fall.

M.Lockwood Porter’s songs toe the line between country-tinged Americana and straight-up rock-and-roll, with poetic storytelling front and center. A SF Bay Area transplant from rural Oklahoma, Porter’s sound recalls his birthplace and a childhood spent exploring the far reaches of the rock canon. The result is something close to timeless - reminiscent at times of Neil Young, Wilco, Townes Van Zandt, and Bruce Springsteen.

From The Valley (Houston)9 pm

Eric Sommer (Little Rock/Austin)8 pm Mr. Sommer has turned a simple strumming style into what may very well be the next big thing: an explosive and dramatic free-form style and, in the process, he's become one of the finest free-form pickers anywhere, borrowing from Steve Howe, Merle Travis, Doc Watson and turning out a style that is authentically unique. And almost impossible to copy.

The free-form guitar style utilizes an original and explosive fret approach – using every fret on the neck and re-tuning on the fly, bending the neck and slapping the strings, sound holes, guitar tops and sides.

Wednesday, December 3rd The Matchsellers (Kansas City, MO & Warsaw, IN) 8 pm $5 Donation

The Matchsellers (Kansas City, MO & Warsaw, IN) 8 pm The Matchsellers began when Andrew Morris (Warsaw, Indiana) and Julie Bates (Kansas City, MO) met in Leipzig, Germany. While working as teachers, the duo began musically reanalyzing the folk forms of their homeland in the decaying buildings of East Germany. In this environment, they developed what may be best described as "Northern Hoosier Style" Bluegrass. The music is stuck somewhere between the electric blues of Chicago and the bluegrass of Kentucky, and has acquired the filth and abandonment of post-communist, ex-patriot life.

Ben Rabb EP Release Show!8 pm Ben Rabb is a New York based singer/songwriter, whose soulful lyrics and authentic approach to performance make him a refreshing, unique standout in an industry where realism often takes a backseat to the bells and whistles of pop production.

“Pulling from my midwest roots, travels and the place I now call home, New York City, my music is a combination of where I’m from, what I’m going through and the people I’m inspired by.  I grew up listening to songwriters like James Taylor, Joni Mitchell and Otis Redding, and felt the power of their music and words.  They had a voice that inspired me to find my own truth, connect and share with people through music.”Ben regularly performs in New York City and all throughout the Northeast.  He has also toured the Midwest and Texas.  He is releasing his first professionally produced album with Boston based producer Mike Davidson at Plaid Dog Recording.
Nicolette Good 8 pm (San Antonio) Nicolette Good is a San Antonio-based singer/songwriter and a winner of the 2012 Grassy Hill Kerrville New Folk competition. Her first full-length album, Monarch (2012), includes tracks like “Marathon” that earned her a spot on the docu-reality TV show, Troubadour, TX in 2011. The album was named a top 12 album of 2012 by the San Antonio Current and leans heavily on rich lyrics, ethereal vocal melodies and complex characters. Critics have called her “a songwriter to follow” and “a poet of the first order,” making her feel right at home performing in listening rooms and intimate venues.
