Thursday, August 20th Corey Paul 8:00 pm $10 Donation

Corey Paul 8:00 pm Corey is a singer, songwriter/multi-instrumentalist/entertainer based in Dallas, TX. Corey has been recording and performing with several bands in the Dallas Metroplex since the age of 12. He was inspired at an early age by rock bands such as Led Zeppelin, Tool, and Pink Floyd. This exposure lead to the formation of several original rock bands with schoolmates, but ultimately writing all of the material on each instrument. By the age of 17, Corey had already written over 100 original songs and began the honing the craft of songwriting. After years of writing and performing with his psychedelic rock trio, "MOON", Paul was inspired with a profound connection to the classic jazz standards from the 20's, 30's and 40's after stumbling across a 1$ Frank Sinatra CD at a local book store. "The music chose me" the singer explains. After a chance encounter with a ragtime pianist from church, the singer immediately formed a swing band "Blue Swoon". After a year of avid gigging as a swing jazz duo, the two disbanded. The young crooner, anxious to create a more dynamic jazz group began networking with several talented musicians from University of North Texas. Since then, Paul has been performing with his sextet and honing his sound to achieve a fresh and unique spin on the Jazz classics. He regularly performs with his 6 piece jazz combo around Dallas.

Steve Grady 9:00 pm "His music beckons the past to confront the future in many ways. His sound is reminiscent of the great songwriters of the day like Dylan, Young, and Cash...yet has a sense of longing in it that tells of the man who created it." Ryan Martin, jammerzine.com

"Grady needles his way into your conscious and evokes memoreis that have been for a long time disconnected and distilled."  Gemma Clarke, speaker.com

A time, a place, a season, a memory. Steve Grady’s music melds the significant and the incidental, together with deceptively simple lyrics and addictive choruses that stay with you for days... like the final pages of your favourite novel or the last scene in that movie.

Sunday, September 6th Amber Lawrence (Sydney, AU)7:00 pm $5 Donation

Amber Lawrence (Sydney, AU)7:00 pm award-winning singer-songwriter who has had the most incredible start to 2015 by being awarded two major awards. The first of these, the iconic and prestigious ‘Female Artist of the Year’ award, at the 2015 CMAA Golden Guitar awards, was quickly followed up with the Country Music Channel ‘Female Oz Artist of the Year’ Award. This is the first time in history that a female artist has one both awards in one year.
Taking out ‘Female Artist of the Year’ is no mean feat, especially considering the caliber of her fellow nominees, who included Kasey Chambers and Lyn Bowtell.
Amber’s recent success comes off the back of the launch of her 4th album “Superheroes”. Superheroes debuted at number 3 on the ARIA Country Charts and was launched to a sold out crowd at Sydney’s iconic venue ‘The Basement’ in September 2014. Superheroes includes the hit singles ‘Superhero’ and ‘The Lifesaver’ (which was also awarded Contemporary Lyric of the Year at the 2015 Bush Laureate Awards).
Selling out shows, and converting people to her style of country music is nothing new for this Sydney city girl and former Qantas accountant. Her ability to engage audiences and tell stories has kept her on the road and working hard for the past 9 years. Amber has played all the major Australian festivals as a Main Stage artist - including The Gympie Muster, The Tamworth Country Music Festival and CMC Rocks. She has also toured Egypt and East Timor to entertain Australian and US Troops.
Amber will tour USA (for the first time!) as an acoustic trio - Amber Lawrence, guitar and vocals, Aaron Pye - percussion and vocals and Rod Motbey - guitar and vocals. This format allows for a beautiful acoustic style show that still packs a punch! Amber is also available for solo acoustic performances.
"Amber Lawrence is a breath of fresh air to Australian Country Music - a city girl singing country, she never disappoints when on stage" - Jonathon Moran - Sunday Telegraph

It's said that most comedians were the class clowns in school. Paul was never the class clown. However, he was tormented on a daily basis by the class clowns. So he became a comedian, hoping that one day he might bump into his former class clowns at a comedy club somewhere and exact revenge. Come join him on his journey. He's been seen on Last Comic Standing 2 and Telemundo 2's Loco Comedy Jam.

Shawn Byrne (Portland, CT) He's had a handful of Americana/Indie Country cuts to his name, the most notable of which was "Ol' Cook Pot" recorded by The Duhks on their Grammy nominated album Migrations. He loves playing singer/songwriter type events where he can share original music & interact with the crowd. He's spent the past few years touring as a guitarist with major label country acts like Rodney Atkins, Mark Collie, Kelleigh Bannen, & James Otto, but has recently gotten back on the road promoting his own music.

He readily professes that this is the only time of day where he he has time to collect his thoughts and ideas. His brand of Americana music has been called "a little left of country" by critics and his latest Album "Unexpected Pleasures" pretty well proves that to be true..

By day he works for the man. By night he is a dedicated husband and father. Always he is a dreamer, a writer and a singer of songs...

Justin Farren (Folk-Pop/American) J
ustin Farren is an unassuming singer-songwriter from Sacramento, CA. where he lives in a house that he literally built with his own two hands, about which he says "it's like living in a museum of my own mistakes". When it comes to his songs, Justin Farren is nothing short of a master craftsman painting lyrical pictures that are firmly rooted in the reality of day-to-day life. His delivery is humorous, thoughtful and engaging. His guitar playing is lively, intricate, and seemingly boundless. The Sacramento New & Review describes him as "The storyteller with an impeccable voice, a guitar and a head full of funny, tender and engaging observation"

Wednesday, October 21st The Sisters Sweet (Fayetteville, Ark) 8:00 pm

The Sisters Sweet(Fayetteville, Ark)8:00 pm The Sisters Sweet is a trio of sirens that sing and play original works by Candy Lee. Gorgeous three part harmonies create a sound that is sensual and powerful, yet honest and tender. Though they’re not afraid to share their softer side, these ladies also know how to get down. Rooted in the earthiness of folk, The Sisters Sweet keep it fresh by merging in-vogue indie influences with throwback moods of funk and blues, with jazz inspired vocal stylings reminiscent of Billie Holiday and The Andrews Sisters. Their lyrics are thought provoking and passionate, bringing into question the forms of our shared human condition, and evoking visions of a more harmonious reality.

"TBD" 10:00 pm

Sarah McQuaid (Penzance, UK) 8:00 pm

Sarah McQuaid’s voice has been likened to malt whiskey, melted chocolate and “honey poured into wine” (Minor 7th). Her new album Walking Into White (2015) is her most honest and adventurous work to date, with a depth and texture of soundscape that are reflected in her beautifully crafted live shows. A captivating performer, she seduces her audience with cheeky banter and stories from the road, as well as with stunning musicianship; in her hands, the guitar becomes much more than merely an accompanying instrument.

Born in Spain, raised in Chicago and now living in rural England, Sarah refuses to be pigeonholed, segueing easily from one of her emotive originals into a 1930s Cuban jazz number, a 16th century lute piece or an unexpected contemporary cover. Like its predecessors, her fourth solo CD has drawn international critical acclaim: The Musician (UK) called it “A work that grows with each listen,” while Germany’s Folker hailed it as “Ein mutiges Album mit einem potenziellen Pophit” (A courageous album that includes a potential pop hit). “Sending out a trembling resonance, this is a collection of songs that feel their way into your being,” wrote FolkWords (UK), where it prevailed over stiff competition to be selected as Album of the Month.

“The whole album expresses the eclectic influences from McQuaid’s life intertwined with a symbiotic, emotive edge. With a maelstrom of intensity within, it’s a totally enthralling listen.” — Eileen McCabe, Irish Music Magazine

“The songs are acutely observed and literate, almost like journal notes set to music. They’re measured and tranquil but they’re never dull because there is always a sense of restlessness and unease behind the poetry.... And it’s all lovely.” – Ian Pickles, R2/Rock 'n' Reel
