Friday, June 26th Walt & Tina Wilkins $10 Donation 9:30 pm Jake Martin 8:00 pm

Walt & Tina Wilkins 9:30 pm "I am fortunate that I play my songs across a wide region that is filled with folks who find comfort, enjoyment & meaning in coming out to listen to folks like myself.  I am fortunate that enough folks come out, generally, that I can come back to those places and play my songs again.  I am lucky, I think, that I knew my calling at an early age, and at one point in my life, I took the necessary steps to follow that calling out into the world. I am still learning how to listen to, and stay true to the voice, and true to the work I am given.  I try not to take myself too seriously, but I do try to take seriously this work; this calling. I play some nights just me and my guitar, and some nights with my talented and funny wife, Tina.  And some nights with the The Mystiqueros, a living art collective, a hill country jukebox, one of the bands on the bill in honky-tonk heaven. I drive, I play, I sleep and dream. I have had a fair share of songs recorded by other folks, which was my dream all along, and I have played shows with heroes & real poets & the deepest of cats.  But I live for the gig tonight, and tomorrow. I am fortunate... and I hope to see you down this road." - Walt Wilkins

Happy Birthday America!Don't forget to pick up your craft beer by the 6 pack and head to the South Side on Lamar rooftop!
Anna Robyn Thomas "Mere minutes into Denton singer-songwriter Anna Robyn Thomas’ debut, Symptoms, an astonishment takes hold: This artist is just 19 years old?! “Wise beyond her years” is a far-too-frequently deployed cliche when it comes to teenage musicians, but in the case of Thomas, where else to begin? These 10 amazingly assured tracks, produced by Thomas and Levi Bradford, are like boarding a sleek roller coaster, full of hairpin turns hurtling these alt-pop songs in vivid new directions. Thomas has clearly studied the St. Vincent/ Regina Spektor playbook, but wisely tossed it aside in favor of forging her own path. From the harrowing ( Little Albert) to the happy ( Jamestown), Thomas needs just 31 minutes to leave a massive impression."

René Moffatt (Dallas)9 pm When was the last time you had a song stuck in your head... and actually liked it? If you're searching for a new soundtrack to sing look no further than the repertoire of local songwriter René Moffatt. With lyrics that resonate and melodies that endure René's music will have you humming on the car ride home. Though a native Texan, René spent the majority of the last ten years on the East Coast where, at 26, he picked up a guitar and found his voice. After the 2011 release of his debut EP "Here And Now Is Home" René played tirelessly up and down the East Coast and even released a viral music video for his song "Route 42". In the Fall of 2012 René returned to North Texas and soon became a staple of the Dallas singer-songwriter scene where he released his latest single "King Of The Mountain". Last year René played a Sunday afternoon residency at Opening Bell Cafe and recorded many of his sets. Later this year he'll release the songs from that residency on his second album "Overheard: Live & Acoustic".

Friday, July 24th Zach Balch 9:30 pm SoulRev (Wichita, KS) 8:00 pm $5 Donation

Zach Balch 9:30 pm As a soloist, Zach Balch’s charismatic and witty Folk/Americana gives audiences the best singer/songwriter experience the genre has to offer, feeling at once nostalgic and fresh. When onstage with the rest of the band, Zach’s music takes on an electrifying big-city dimension. The result is the personal prose of David Ramirez meets the clever, full-bodied Alt-Country/Rock of Ryan Adams, served up with a satisfying helping of the Blues.
SoulRev (Wichita, KS) 8:00 pm One will find The Soul Revolution's live performances straight-forward as the trio leans upon the music and the energy that it creates, for to them it truly is about the music, about letting go of what's got a hold on you... unless what's got a hold on you makes you feel life is soul right.

Saturday, July 25th Brent & Kate 9:30 pm Tony James Shevlin (London) 8:00 pm $5 Donation

9:30 pm "Brent & Kate 9:30 pm Duo consisting of singer-songwriters Brent Wilson and Katelyn Hobson. Self-described as country/soul/pop, they are based out of both College Station and the DFW area and are influenced by the likes of Lady Antebellum and The Civil Wars. Brent & Kate are currently recording their first EP and their single, "You're Gonna Miss Me," is now available on iTunes.
Tony James Shevlin (London, UK)8:00 pm “Affable and unpretentious” would sum up Tony James Shevlin perfectly,  yet this UK-based Anglo-Irish musician has a musical pedigree that would have gone to a lesser man’s head.  It’s not often you’ll have a solo guitarist playing a small venue who can introduce his next song and casually mention  “this was the International Anthem of Peace chosen by Amnesty International”  or  “I wrote this one for REM”.  However,  as he starts to play,  the tune and lyrics have that rare quality of true originality and you wonder why you’ve never heard of this singer-songwriter before. Tony’s been a professional musician for most of his adult life,  and has performed around the world,  from Europe to Russia,  Africa,  America,  the Middle East,  Australia…  in fact it would be quicker for him to tell you where he hasn’t been.  In between songs he’ll tell you of times spent in a cell with Shane McGowan singing in his ear or some of his many other tales from a life spent in music.

Paul Varghese 9:00 pm Paul was named by the Dallas Observer as the "Best Stand-up Comic in Dallas" and has been featured on NBC's "Last Comic Standing," Showtime's "Russell Peters Presents" and Comedy Central's "Live at Gotham."

Born and raised in the South, Paul's humor starts at the randomness that is his everyday environment then detours into insecurity and sarcasm only to end up at a nice middle ground of twisted reality. It's said that most comedians were the class clowns in school. Paul was never the class clown. However, he was tormented on a daily basis by the class clowns. So he became a comedian, hoping that one day he might bump into his former class clowns at a comedy club somewhere and exact revenge. Come join him on his journey. He's been seen on Last Comic Standing 2 and Telemundo 2's Loco Comedy Jam.

The Sisters Sweet (Fayetteville, Arkansas)8:00 pm The Sisters Sweet is a trio of sirens that sing and play original works by Candy Lee. Gorgeous three part harmonies create a sound that is sensual and powerful, yet honest and tender. Though they’re not afraid to share their softer side, these ladies also know how to get down. Rooted in the earthiness of folk, The Sisters Sweet keep it fresh by merging in-vogue indie influences with throwback moods of funk and blues, with jazz inspired vocal stylings reminiscent of Billie Holiday and The Andrews Sisters. Their lyrics are thought provoking and passionate, bringing into question the forms of our shared human condition, and evoking visions of a more harmonious reality.

Candy Lee is the 2011 Northwest Arkansas Music Award Winner for Best Female Singer/Songwriter and Best Female Vocalist in a Band. The Sisters Sweet (formerly Candy Lee and the Sweets) have performed at the Yonder Mountain Harvest Festival, as well as the Fayetteville Roots Festival, and a sold out show at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art. They have opened for Amy Lavere, The Lost Gonzo Band, and Elephant Revival. Please view our EPK. http://www.sonicbids.com/band/the-sisters-sweet/
